Stelis orchid

Stelis sp

Description:

tiny epiphytic orchid, the center of the flower looks like a scary face, reminds me of a mexican wrestling mask, not sure of the species.

Habitat:

pacific coast rainforest

Notes:

I don't usually spot many orchids in lowland rainforest. I usually see them in cloud forest that's why I was surprised to see a few orchids in San Cipriano forest reserve. I spotted 2 orchids on my first hike. They were both growing and flowering on a tree branch that had fallen to the ground. I'm always checking out fallen trees for orchids.
