Chiapas Burrowing Snake, yellow-bellied variant

Adelphicos nigrilatum

Description:

This little Colubrid of about 15 cm in length is the yellow-bellied variant of Adelphicos nigrilatum. The orange belly is more common. It also has of course the characteristic black side stripes and the iridescence of the upper scales. It was also stuck in the street and I moved it to a vacant lot. Family Colubridae.

Habitat:

Semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.

Beautiful snake, and wonderful spotting. The close-up shots are very helpful to get a good idea of the snakes real colours.
