Thank you Jemma. They indeed are tricolored, the older ones being more brilliant. They'll soon be nesting off the beaten path and be not as easy to spot . This particular lake where I spotted them is used by a local university for rowing and no other boats are allowed to be launched. It'll be tough to see them in a few weeks :(.
