Common Green Forest Lizard

Calotes calotes

Description:

This lizard is rather large species of agamid, mainly thanks to a very long tail. If my memory is correct, this one was about half a meter long. The tail is very long, three times the length of the body. Dorsal side is all bright green in color, and hardly visible in this rich vegetation, yellowish or pale green on ventral side. There is a row of light green colored spines on the neck, prolonging to the back.

Habitat:

Edge of the small forest, with plush, dense vegetation. Reported as endemic species of Sri Lanka and two forest of India.

Notes:

Once again, sorry for the poor quality of photos, which were taken before the digital era and scanned later on.
