Scarab

Description:

Tan Scarab with a black head and darker brown markings on the pronotum and elytra. About 1.5 cm long. In the first two pictures a small parasitic wasp is sitting on the end of the elytra and in the 3rd picture, 2 different species of flies are also interested in the beetle. Family Scarabaeidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light. Finca Argovia, Ruta de Cafe, Soconusco area of southern Chiapas, Mexico. About 1 hour northeast of Tapachula.
