Mountain Laurel

Kalmia latifolia

Description:

Large shrub (5' tall) with dramatic clusters of pink buds and reddish-white flowers. Leaves were shiny and leathery. I'm not sure what variety this is - maybe either bullseye or minuet.

Habitat:

Growing in an edge habitat between a meadow and a mixed forest.

Notes:

Mountain Laurel is the state flower of Connecticut.
