Dwarf Crested Iris

Description:

A Balkan peninsula endemic. Leaves 1-1.5cm wide, more or less falcate. Flowers two or more, up to 6.5cm in diameter and relatively much longer, owing to the down swept to slightly deflexed long falls, yellow, purple or violet, all rather dull shades, usually with a darker veining, the beards yellow or white with purple tips, spring.

Habitat:

Distribution: Greece, Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia and Romania, in grassy places and amongst scrub. Spotted in Seih-Sou, the suburban forest of Thessaloniki, Greece.
