Congratulations Cláudio, your beautiful Iberian Emerald Lizard has been chosen as our Spotting of the Day for World Lizard Day:

August 14th is World Lizard Day! There are approximately 6000 species of lizards worldwide. They are found on every continent with the exception of Antarctica, in almost every type of habitat. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, many lizard species are endangered or critically endangered. Our Spotting of the Day, a beautiful Iberian Emerald Lizard (Lacerta schreiberi), is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, and is currently classified as near threatened. Its populations are in significant decline due to habitat loss.
