cedar waxwing

Bombycilla cedrorum

Description:

Waxwings are a nomadic species, following the availability of berries that make up their main food source.

Habitat:

Butterfly garden on a hot day

Notes:

I found this family by following their plaintive whistling cries. The parent bird appeared to have an intestinal disorder and was frequently seen preening the vent area. The young were fully flighted and all flitted back and forth between a couple trees in the garden
