Mini Buprestid Beetle

Description:

This is the smallest Metallic Wood-boring Beetle that I've ever encountered at about 3.5 mm in length. Up close it was beautiful with metallic sparkles and a magenta coloring on the end of the elytra. Family Buprestidae.

Habitat:

Woody bush, Rancho Nuevo Park, 10 km east San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
