Chicken of the Woods, white-pored, Laetiporus cincinnatus

Description:

Orange wrinkled rosette layers of mushroom growing in the soil close to the base of a dead tree. Supposed to be oaks that these white-pored ones grow close to, couldn't tell because there were no branches or leaves but bark is oak-like. Really tastes like chicken indeed, I couldn't believe it's a mushroom!

Habitat:

The white-pored variety grows near the base of oak trees.

Notes:

Really really tastes like chicken. Astounding.
