Blue Ridge Two-lined Salamander

Eurycea wilderae

Description:

Slender, colorful salamander that I found while hiking Graveyard Fields off of the parkway. Bright yellow in color with two distinctive black lines running down each side of its back. This salamander is largely terrestrial throughout the summer and was super cool to see!

Habitat:

Small streams and forests in Western NC and Eastern Tennessee. It's one of the most abundant salamanders in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
