Luna moth

Actias luna

Description:

Luna moth spotted in the woods near dusk. Its colors were so vibrant! I had never seen one just sitting around during daylight before. I wondered if it had only recently emerged from its cocoon since it stayed so still.

Habitat:

Edge of forest near fields

I think this is a Luna moth I just found on my window sill. One piece of his lower right underside looked damaged. He had been attached to the screen. What is their lifespan? Would like to post a picture I took?
