Dhub

Uromastyx aegyptia microlepis

Description:

Dhub (AKA: Dhab, or Spiny-Tailed Lizard; Arabic: الضب) spotted in the desert near Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. This was the most brightly colored of all the Dhubs we saw in this area, and by far the largest. From head to tail it was at least two feet long!

Notes:

The next I went to the same spot and saw what I assume to be this same Dhub fighting over a burrow with a smaller one. That series can also be seen on PN at http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/210...

Yes, one good thing about the heat - the lizzies come out! :-)

Glad everyone is enjoying this series. I have been trying to get a good one for a few months now, with no luck, but now that the weather is getting hot again the lizards are out and active. I have another set of what I assume is this same lizard (same location) fighting with a smaller one over a burrow. I will get that uploaded later.

Glad you found the species - I thought he might be the Egyptian one! I've posted several spottings of the Ornate Dabb Lizard. They don't get quite as big as this one, but they are very colorful!

Yes, that is what makes them so interesting, right? Like tiny, yellow dinosaurs!
