Verbascum xanthophoeniceum
Rare small plant that grows in deciduous forests of N. Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey. Yellow flowers with purple-violet hairy filaments. Leaf rosettes flat on the ground, with dark green and purple tinged leaves that are deeply veined and almost glabrous (see 6th photo).
Small clearing in oak forest (altitude 1000 m.).
The plant is traditionally used as phytotherapeutic agent due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It is rich in phenylethanoid andiridoid metabolites with anti-inflammatory properties.
