Chest pattern makes me think cooper's

The juvenile plumage makes me think Cooper's hawk as Fyn as mentioned!

this was the second possible sharp shinned i had seen that week in that area... however i also saw 3 coopers (1 adult 2 juvenile) so i don't really know what it could be it was small though. does anyone really know their raptors REALLY well?

true... we have seen a lot of coopers around. i'll do some more research.

For alert perching birds like this one that isn't a very good feature.

thanks thats what i thought at first too but his tail seems very flat like a sharpie and not round like a coopers.
