I've always just called these Field Mice, I have no idea what the exact species is. They are so fun to watch! I saw several on this evening, all chasing & playing.

Oh! I have never heard this term before, learned something new! After looking up pictures I agree that it does look more like a vole than a mouse. I will continue researching & see if I can find anything locally about voles. Thanks so much!

Reason why I asked is because it is looking like a vole. Voles have short tails and fur over the base of their ears. Most mice don't have the fur covering their ears

The tail was maybe 3 inches in length. He was a little guy, he's checking out a red potato.
