Your spider has more white and looks less bulky. As far as I can tell, none of the spiders in Genus Hogna have those furry areas on the front legs.
Thanks! I believe you are correct. I think it is a male Carolina wolf spider, our state spider. It was definitely less than an inch and the males are smaller. Thanks for your help!

They do need to make a common name! I am always bummed out when they don't have common names. Then I start to think of some for them. Haha!

Hi Tammy, cool find! This looks like a male Wolf Spider from Genus Schizocosa. They have the brush of black hairs on the front legs.
