Description:

Cap shell-shaped ca. 1-1.25 inches wide; velvet surface. Gills white. Spore print light brown. Spores ca. 4-6µ; globose.

Habitat:

Growing alone, not clustered, on a hardwood log in shade on floodplain above creek.

Notes:

Similar to, but slightly smaller than, the oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus); has a brown spore print compared with the white-pale lilac print of the oyster mushroom.
