Neopsittacus musschenbroekii
Attractive lorikeet. 21-23cm long. Upper surfaces dark green, flanks pale green with broad red breast tapering down to the vent. Under tail is yellow/orange, bill is yellow and face is green flecked with yellow.
Found in mountian forest and around highland settlements in New Guinea. This one spotted in highland forest near Tari around 2,000 meters elevation, in western PNG.
Seen here eating fruit and apparently unconcerned by my presence.

My pleasure Liana. I am pleased you enjoyed this guy. Thank you so much for your comment and continued support. Rob
This is a first for me as well. Wonderful images Rob! Thank you for the information and for sharing :)
Thank you Pradeep.
Very nice shot!
Thank you for your very kind words Polilla. I appreciate the comment and do try to keep up to the PN standards as do a lot of other members here. Some species are not always as spectacular and some are downright hard to photograph and some, there just isn't a lot of info on, but I love them all and like to try and find new species to post for others to see and appreciate.
Thank you for comment Neil and my pleasure to share. Rainbows are very loud!
This is a species I've never seen before. So beautiful. I've had about 50 of their raucous rainbow cousins at place all day, and it's only gone quiet now at dusk. Thanks for sharing this beauty, Rob.
