I came across this little furry creature as I was exploring the shoreline of a local marshland pond. He was running and hopping along the shore, peeking in and out of every little hole or hiding space he could find. His curious nature reminded me of one of my favorite childhood movies, "Rikki Tikki Tavi," although Rikki was Mongoose. I think the Mongoose's Motto "Run and find out," should also apply to the American Mink.
Mashland Pond
The American mink is a carnivore which feeds on rodents, fish, crustaceans, frogs, and birds. It is the most frequently farmed animal for its fur, exceeding the silver fox, sable, marten, and skunk in economic importance.

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Great spotting and info. Thanks!
