Crocothemis servilia
Large dragonfly with a hind wing length of 31-33mm and a body length of 40-43mm. The male is a bright red from his eyes to the end of his abdomen. He also has a black mid dorsal stripe running the length of his abdomen.
Widespread in Singapore and common over large areas of Asia. Prefers water bodies with dense grasses and full sun.
This species was formerly considered a sub-species of Crocothemis erythraea but was given its own species status after several key structural differences were documented by Lohmann 1981 and Schneider 1985. Ref: IUCN Red List.
