There are two species of iguana on St. Martin, the indigenous Lesser Antillean iguana (Iguana delicatissima) which, unlike this spotting, does NOT have a subtympanic shield, a feature of the other St Martin species, the non-native green iguana (Iguana iguana). Interestingly, Iguana iguana first made it to neighboring Anguilla in 1995. Read about this amazing invasion here http://www.nytimes.com/1998/10/08/us/hap... I wonder how they got to St. Martin.
