Southern toad

Bufo terrestris

Description:

We spotted the toad in the middle of eating breakfast, a juicy worm. We frightened it, and it hopped away. It fiercely held onto its meal! We saw it on Wright's Bluff Nature Trail.

Habitat:

Forested trail near Lake Marion and cypress swamps
