Urupé

Helosis cayennensis

Description:

inflorescence develops in an underground tuber before breaking through the surface, plant contains no chlorophyl

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, amazon

Notes:

Though I only spotted a few of these in the tierra firme in the amazon, high ground that never floods, they were particularly abundant in the flooded forest. The area wasn't quite underwater yet when I was there and there were huge clumps of parasitic blooms all over.
