"Cutting a striking figure on forest floor, this giant forest scorpion (Heterometrus sp.) is our Spotting of the Day! Heterometrus belongs to the family Scorpionidae, which counts some of the world's largest scorpions (Order Scorpiones). Scorpions in this genus are heavily built with powerful pedipalps, and are midly venomous. Heterometrus is widely distributed across tropical and subtropical Southeast Asia".
