Description:

There were several of these birds on the salinas hunting for fish/frogs unfortunately the water was quite deep so you cant see the great length of the birds bright pink legs which give them their common name. The one in photo 4 had just managed to catch a which seemed quite large to swallow in one for a small bird. part of the wading bird family.

Habitat:

seen on "las salinas" (salt flats) in Calpe alongside several other waterbirds. This is an area protected from development.
