Drymarchon melanurus erebennus
Mostly black snake with a blue iridescence. This was the biggest I've seen, just over 6.5 feet, but they still get much larger than this. Their main prey is rattlesnakes, and they are immune to the venom.
Found on the road in the morning in thorn scrub area.

I've been bit by plenty of snakes to know they aren't bad at all, but it's a mental thing that's preventing me from just grabbing certain species lol
I hear you Ashley. I love snakes and know that a bite isn't as bad as getting scratched by a cat. But for some reason I can't figure out a snake bite is more intimidating.
Thanks Liam and Tom! The snake was kind of aggressive. Everyone in my group held it before me, and it was really great. But of course when I went to hold it, she bit me. But I wish it would have just nailed me, it was just in slow motion and only got me with a few of its teeth. But if it would have gotten me good, I wouldn't be so timid about grabbing some snakes that I know will bite me since indigo's have one of the worst bites of snakes in the US.
Very impressive snake! Was it aggressive?
Wicked awesome snake!
