False Garden Mantid (♂)

Pseudomantis albofimbriata

Description:

About 50mm long. Eyes red (at night time?) Wing covers in an attractive green. Distinctive patches on the inside of the forearms. Dominating the front of a car at night watching for any arthropods to dare enter his domain. He had already dismembered a tiny fly and left the wings only,

Habitat:

Next to a large national park.

Notes:

These are usually either green (dominant colour) or brown but sometimes occur in other colours including aqua and this rare multi-coloured form.
