Tawny mining bee

Description:

It is a European species of sand bee. It is covered with hair: fox-red on its back and black on its underside. The Tawny mining bee flies from March until May. It lives in a nest in the ground, and occasionally in larger colonies. I have included a video of the bee working on its nest in the ground.

Habitat:

Found in an a trail in a woodland mixed with swamps area. Doode Bemde, Huldenberg area.
