Tree swallow

Tachycineta bicolor

Description:

Tree swallows nest in natural or artificial cavities near water and are often found in large flocks. They fly very swiftly and I had to try dozens of shots as they sped past to get a few that were in focus!

Habitat:

Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge

Thanks, Ashley and Gordon. I do wish they were better photos but at least I got something. Fellow birders were commenting to me that it was a lost cause but I was bound and determined to get at least one shot where the bird was recognizable! :>)

I too have spent way too many shutter snaps to catch tree swallows in flight...and have rarely been successful. Kudos to for trying and getting these shots!

Super jealous of this, these guys have managed to elude me so far! Nice shots to see the iridescent blue too :)
