Description:

Roughly 20 millimeters in length, banded black and yellow as shown.

Habitat:

Paved trail through urban residential and retail neighborhood, with channelized waterway (dry). Overall habitat is degraded shortgrass prairie with many elm, cottonwood trees.

Notes:

Common wasp mimic in autumn, especially on goldenrod flowers.
