Violet Wood-sorrel

Oxalis violacea

Description:

Typical 3-leafed clover-shaped flowers, faint red outline inside the leaves. Single pale lavender flowers on stalks about 4 inches above leaves.

Habitat:

Trailside, coastal wooded upland area about 1/2 mile from a saltmarsh

Notes:

Excited to find - rare and a species of special concern in CT Bluff Point State Coastal Reserve. Unfortunately, I was a little rushed (on a field trip) and couldn't get a pic where my camera would focus just on the flower.
