Owl moth

Erebus ephesperis

Description:

huge moth, about 12.5cm (5")

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

One of the larger moths spotted in Tawau hills park. I spent 16 days in total spotting in the park. Even though that is a long time, I still spotted more large moths, with a wingspan of 7.5cm (3") or more, than I have anywhere else.
