Brake lights beetle

Description:

About 14mm long with iridescent red/orange patches on a darker red background. The bright patches are particularly on the rear end.

Habitat:

Exploring a large, barkless eucalyptus log in a local nature reserve.

Notes:

Possibly Lemodes coccinea or a relative although patterns look slightly different... yet to confirm patterns and species.
