Nootka Lupine

Lupinus nootkatensis

Description:

The new growth of lupine in the spring. Though when they are adults the leaves are very green, the new growth is almost all purple to begin with and become more green as the leaves open up. The hairs are also much more pronounced at this stage, though the plants are also somewhat hairy later in the summer.

Habitat:

On top of Pillar Mountain, a relatively small mountain close to town with six windmills. The mountain often has a large mass of fog or clouds over it even when other parts of town are clear so the area receives a lot of moisture
