Macrochelys temminckii
State threatened species. They are the heaviest freshwater turtle in the world. Dark skin covered with tubercles and a dark shell with rows of raised knobs.
Caught in a pond with a lot of vegetation and water lilies in an oak forest at a national wildlife refuge.

Lauren, I was holding it up. Aquatic turtles tend to all be grumpy, so you can get a shot like this with many of them, this just happens to be cooler looking than most :)
