Bluehead Wrasse

Thalassoma bifasciatum

Habitat:

Found in coral reefs of the Atlantic Ocean. Its main range includes the Caribbean Sea and the southeast area of the Gulf of Mexico.

Notes:

This group of initial phase adult Blueheads were participating in group spawning. Though they look very different from the terminal phase colors that gives it the name, they are nonetheless sexually mature at this stage. See last picture to see another pic from nearby showing a couple of juveniles on the top and a terminal phase on the bottom.
