Caribbean False Helmetorchid

Microchilus plantagineus

Description:

epiphytic, tiny blooms, maybe 5mm

Habitat:

cloudforest, 800m

Notes:

My first native orchid spotting in Dominica. I was really excited to spot this. It was very small and barely noticeable. I only saw one that day but after doing more hiking on the island, I spotted this orchid in many more places. I spotted this on the Boeri Lake trail in Morne Trois Pitons national park.
