Shaggy ink cap

Coprinus comatus

Habitat:

City park

Notes:

I saw these when I first arrived at work and snapped these shots with my cell phone camera. By the time I could get back during lunch, they had withered and dried quite a bit. :-(

Thank you all for the insight! I know absolutely nothing about fungi.

It's not Coprinus is the only Coprinoid genus which have rings so we can be confident it's a true Coprinus rather than Coprinopsis etc. C. sterquilinus grows on dung and straw, so it's not that.

Looks like Coprinus comatus caught in a particularly beautiful moment in their short life.

I like the Coprinus sterquilinus http://www.grzyby.pl/coprinus-site-Kees-...

Looks like the Shaggy Ink Cap (Coprinus Comatus). I say this because of the small white mushroom in the background - this is how C. Comatus looks like when young. Plus the scales on the other ones and the size (that looks medium to me) tell me that it is C. Comatus.
If this is rather a small mushroom that it might be Coprinus Sterquilinus.
