Eastern Garter Snakes

Thamnophis sirtalis

Description:

Two nearly identical garter snakes with similar coloring and markings crawling together away from a "nest" or area of mating, tree climbing 6 snakes. #1 - 2.5 feet (76.2 cm) #2 3.0 feet (81.44 cm) Tan, brown, black and light yellow.

Habitat:

Woodlands by spring fed brook.

Notes:

Photos are two long snakes crawling on ground and bushes/tree together. This is the year of the snake in my woods where I live. I have found 26 different garter snakes so far this season. Focal length of photos: 58-88 mm
