Thank you Sckel, that looks really close, but spinier. The leaf looks similar too, but the plant looks much smaller. This one was at least 30 cm hight.

Hi, lauren. among other characteristics, the symmetry of the flower is very similar to the individuals of the family Acanthaceae. I found this species as an example: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:S...

Thank you Sckel. I went through pictures of the Acanthaceae but didn't see one like this. I did see lots of other flowers I know though!
