Calicotome villosa, also known as hairy thorny broom and spiny broom, is a drought deciduous spiny shrub, possessing mature, green stems with yellow papilionaceous flowers during the spring season, very common in the Mediterranean area, where it grows near the sea (0-1200 m altitude). The pictured plant was spotted near Volos city, Greece.
