A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Philodendron sp.
The Philodendrons are an intregal part of the Jungle flora in Tropical forests. They are vines which can grow enormously high in trees and are long lived. They are interesting among the plants in that they exhibit a negative phototaxis, meaning that instead of growing towards the light like most plants, they grow away from the light. New plants emerging from the soil will deliberately head for the deepest shade, hoping that it will be a tree on which to start it's ascent.
