Mimus polyglottos
The Florida state Mockingbird looks like a small bird with brown feathers on top and white on the bottom. The Mockingbird eats beetles, ants, bees, wasps and grasshoppers. They also eat small lizards, earth worms and fruit.
The Mockingbird lives in the USA, Cuba, Bahamas and Mexico. They do not migrate. They live where there are mowed lawns so it can catch food. It also lives at the edge of the forest.
I have seem the Mockingbird on campus but took the pictures at home. The mockingbird usually mates for life. The male will chase the female. The mockingbird usually has several nests because they will lay 2-3 eggs.
