Cardinalis cardinalis
These are a set of triplet Cardinals born just over one week ago. Their parents set up a nest in an evergreen bush next to our deck about five up in the air. Both mom and dad keep a watchful eye.
Backyard nested in an evergreen bush.
The pair of parents have lived and courted in our backyard for years. You can see a hand brushing back bush for a clearer photo, that gives you context as to how small they are. They have their little heads up and mouths open. I have another spotting where they are two weeks older. Eyes open. Lots of noise. Out of nest.

Yes, we were able to watch them for about a month until they were moved as juveniles to a higher nest. We never witnessed them as eggs.
Were you able to see the birds fledge?
