Podoserpula sp
Totally unique, multi level growth habit. This unusual form is unknown in other fungi . I've never seen anything like it
tropical rainforest
I spotted this along the trail to the world's tallest tropical tree in Tawau hills park. I was amazed to see a fungi like this, I'm guessing it must be rare. I've never seen one like it on Noah or anywhere else and even Malaysian native Chun Xing Wong had not seen one like it. I think it is P. pusio, since the genus only contains 2 species and it is not the barbie pagoda fungus. From what I read, this appears to be it's first documentation in Borneo.

This is so cool and a great name! It also looks like a stack of pancakes :)
Thanks J, kel, Sergio and Mark. You hit it right on with the common name Sergio. Thanks for the ID Mark, I knew if anyone knew this, it would be you. From what I've seen online, this appears to be one of the nicest specimens out there. According to wiki, there are no records of it from Borneo. Could this be the first? Fascinating genus as well, they just discovered a bright pink species on New Caledonia.
Great find Dan. A super specimen. Podoserpula sp.
A pagoda fungus!
wonderfuI....
but... I wonder if you and Chun are trying to fool us with these pancakes.
Spectacular find, Dan!
