Six-Spotted Green Tiger Beetle

Cicindela sexguttata

Description:

Hard to believe this intense iridescent green occurs naturally in nature. Made even harder because it can take off and fly away so quickly, one is left wondering whether they actually saw it, or not.

Habitat:

Found along a sandy path beside Goose Creek, near the point where it flows into the Potomac river, which was bathed in bright sunlight. They lay their eggs individually in this sandy soil.
