Archaeoprepona sp.
According to PN member and caterpillars expert Earlystages, "Your handsome lagarta is an Archaeoprepona (Nymphalidae: Charaxinae), almost certainly A. amphimachus, which Janzen and Hallwachs choose to call A. 'amphiktion' " http://janzen.sas.upenn.edu/caterpillars... The butterfly that comes from it is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archaeoprep...

That has to be the weirdest caterpillar! beautiful, stunning photographs.
Now that is sensational. What a spotting! On the home page, I thought at first it was some nasty little fish with a gaping mouth. I would never have guessed it was a caterpillar. Nature is truly amazing and never ceases to impress.
As a matter of fact, thought it was some vicious serpent, like the Gaboon Viper. Mind-blowing CAT, really crazy!
Fantastic Sergio!!
