Spicebush Swallowtail Butterfly

Papilio troilus

Description:

At around 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon, I pulled back the shades, that covered the glass, of the sliding glass door, that opened onto the outdoor patio. I looked out onto the outdoor patio, and I thought that I saw, a large butterfly, lying on the floor, of the outdoor patio. I opened up the sliding glass door, and I then stepped out onto the outdoor patio. I bent down, and I saw that it was a large, swallowtail butterfly, lying on the floor of the outdoor patio, and it was being eaten by lots of ants. I quickly picked up this large, deceased butterfly, and I brought it inside my house with me. I then laid this large butterfly on a white piece of paper, that was already on my dining room table. I saw a lot of ants, crawling all over this deceased butterfly. I had to exterminate all of these ants, so this beautiful butterfly, wouldn't be totally eaten, by these ants. After all of these ants were gone, I was able to take some photos, of this beautiful butterfly. This butterfly, was one, and three fourths of an inch long, and three, and one fourth of an inch wide. I then, gently, picked up this butterfly, with two of my fingers, and this butterfly, felt all dried up. This butterfly, felt like a thin piece of paper. This butterfly, must have been deceased, for a long time. I then went outside, and I dug a hole in the ground, in my front yard. I then took this beautiful butterfly outside with me, to the front yard. I gently placed this beautiful, deceased butterfly, into this freshly dug hole, that I just dug. I am now returning this beautiful, deceased butterfly, to god's earth. I then said a prayer, as I was filling up this freshly dug hole. I have now, just returned, this beautiful, deceased butterfly, to god's earth. This is the same god's earth, that grew the host plants, for its caterpillars to feed on. This now, completes the circle of life, for this beautiful, large, swallowtail butterfly....

Habitat:

I found this deceased, swallowtail butterfly, lying on the floor, of the outdoor patio....

Notes:

One afternoon, at around 4:30 p.m., I walked out onto the outdoor patio. I looked ahead, and I spotted a large, swallowtail butterfly, lying on the floor, of the outdoor patio. As I looked closer at this butterfly, I saw that It was deceased, and that it was being eaten by ants. I then picked up this butterfly, and brought it back inside my house with me, to give it any help that I could....

Maplemoth, is this a shot of the ventral side (underneath)? Do you have a shot of the other side? I think this might be a Spicebush Swallowtail if these shots are of the underside.
